InkTideJournal Privacy Policy · Updated 2026-08-14

A short note on your data.

InkTideJournal does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Everything you write stays on your phone.

InkTideJournal is an offline mood journal that turns each day's entries into a rising or falling tide of ink. The pages that follow describe, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with the things you type into it.

I · Collection

Information we collect

None. InkTideJournal has no accounts, no sign-in, no sync and no server. It never asks for your email address, phone number, location or any other identifier, and it contains no code capable of sending such information anywhere. Nobody — including us — can read your journal.

II · Storage

What lives on your device

For the app to work, the following is kept in the operating system's local storage, on your phone, and nowhere else:

None of it is uploaded. Uninstalling the app removes every byte.

III · Permissions

What the app asks for

None. InkTideJournal requests no runtime permissions at all — no camera, microphone, location, contacts, photo library, storage or notification access — so you will never see a permission prompt. The Android manifest declares the standard INTERNET permission that ships by default with the Flutter framework, but the app contains no networking code and never opens a connection.

IV · Network

What goes over the wire

There is none. The app is entirely offline: no servers are contacted, no analytics beacons are sent, no fonts or content are fetched at runtime. The Nunito typeface is bundled inside the app precisely so that nothing has to be downloaded on first launch. InkTideJournal behaves identically in airplane mode. If you use the share button, the operating system's share sheet hands your chosen text to whichever app you select, and that app's own privacy policy takes over from there — nothing is sent anywhere without that explicit action.

V · Third parties

Who else is involved

None are integrated. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising or attribution library, no crash or performance reporting, and no in-app purchase or billing code. The app's dependencies are open-source Flutter packages that draw the interface and charts, store data locally on the device, and open the system share sheet. None of them transmit anything, and none of them receive your entries.

VI · Children

Younger readers

InkTideJournal is safe for users of any age, including children under 13. Because it collects no personal information at all, there is nothing that could be gathered from a child knowingly or unknowingly, and nothing that could be disclosed to anyone. The app contains no advertising, no purchases, no social features and no way to share content with other users. This satisfies COPPA and the GDPR provisions covering children's data.

VII · Your rights

What you can do

Your data never leaves your device, so you hold it exclusively and completely. Every entry can be edited or deleted from within the app at any time. To erase everything at once, uninstall InkTideJournal or clear its storage in your device settings — either removes all entries, badges, profile details and preferences permanently and irreversibly. Because no copy exists anywhere else, there is no account to close, no export to request from us and no deletion request to file. For users in the EU and UK, the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection are satisfied in full by this arrangement.

VIII · Revisions

Changes to this policy

If anything in this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will be revised, and material changes will appear in the app's release notes.
